Ferricjohnsson is the solo project of ex-Swissair member Pietari Koskinen. In 1981–85 he made delicate home recordings, playing all the instruments himself and released them as hand-copied cassette albums. ”Joopa joo” (1985) is an ambitious set of exercises in zeitgeist’s sugar-pop complete with catchy melodies and cartoon-like arrangements. Lyrics pinpoint bizarre details of a 20-year-old pondering various situations ranging from observing a radiator in a toilet to the seawater being too salty.
