Unless you’re lucky enough to own the ultra-limited-edition cassettes, LPs and compilation CDs that this important Swiss band has appeared on, it’s safe to say you’ve never heard any of this music.
And what music it is! Recorded between 1984 and 1995, this retrospective is more substantial than most bands’ “masterpieces”.
Electronics and modern studio techniques are applied in the name of good old-fashioned Dada, and the CD flows effortlessly from early ’70s Floyd/Geesin textures to terrain frequented by artists of the excellent ReR and former Ralph labels.
If you’re jaded by cookie-cutter electronics that are the norm rather than the exception these days, then you need to wrap your ears around this disc.
As always, the packaging is full of great artwork, the attention to detail is stunning, and this is a very limited edition.
