Description

Ektro Records is proud to present Begravningsentreprenörerna’s highly anticipated debut album, Jämna Plågor.

Five years ago, Begravningsentreprenörerna burst onto the scene with a bold self-titled EP on Ektro. Although a new band at the time, Begravningsentreprenörerna contained members of black metal stalwarts Vorum and crust heavyweights Tinner. But Begravningsentreprenörerna the record could not have been any different: the three-song 10″ burst forth with a bright melange of ’70s hard rock and proto-metal bleeding into a strange sort of NWOBHM.

Well received as that EP was, Begravningsentreprenörerna’s full-length Jämna Plågor goes even further – and more for the throat and the balls. Right from the very beginning, the album explodes with an even brighter sound, wrapped in rustic ‘n’ rocking analog, courtesy of producer Martin Ehrencrona. These are anthems made for cruising in a Camaro or revving your motorbike, yet rendered perverse or at least more than a bit twisted and strange by their choice of tongue: although a Finnish band, Begravningsentreprenörerna choose to sing in Swedish, reflecting the author’s (twisted) point of view. From there, the joy flows fast and free, pure unbridled energy and enthusiasm shot through every savory, hook-heavy note. These eight songs ever so simply – and magically – coerce a smile out of the listener, and simultaneously incite air-guitar or at least a significant shaking of one’s fist.

Could Jämna Plågor be some private-press hard rock LP from 1976 unearthed only now? Or a too-late-to-the-party NWOBHM redux rattling a garage in 1984? Or, just another example of Ektro Records’ uncanny knack for lurking among the most fun ‘n’ frazzled edges of hard rock and finding timeless gems. Begravningsentreprenörerna invite you to the party!
