Description

Anyone who was obsessed with Dungeons & Dragons in the 1980s will surely have played “Keep on the Borderlands,” the module written by Gary Gygax in 1979. It was a vast scenario full of sub-adventures, playable endlessly. A goldmine of fun! “Keep…” was also crucial because it set the standard for subsequent D&D adventures and spawned hundreds of imitators.

HDK wanted to pay homage to the legendary module with this album composed by the intrepid GOBLINTH, which retraces all its key moments. The cassette includes a 24-page illustrated booklet describing the scenario behind each track on the album, making for an immersive and compelling listen. Have fun!

“The Caverns of Chaos are a very dangerous place, a destination for adventurers seeking their fortune. The gangs of humanoids who inhabit them are ruthless but raiding one of their lairs means grabbing a good number of gold coins and magical objects. You figured that a successful raid would allow you to settle in for a while. To reach that remote place, it is necessary to travel for several days to the extreme borders of the Karameikos Realm and reach the last civilized outpost: the Keep on the Borderlands. That fortified building, located in a strategic place in a narrow gorge, has always been impregnable and constituted the last fundamental bulwark against the creatures of chaos that inhabit the unknown lands beyond, called the Savage Lands. No one has ever precisely mapped those lands, but you have gathered enough information to know that somewhere in the Savage Lands lie the Caves of Chaos. That is your destination.”
