Description

It was a surprise to the band Kehro that Hamlet is more than just the Prince of Denmark in one of the world’s most famous plays. According to the English dictionary, ‘Hamlet’ also denotes “a small settlement, generally one smaller than a village, and – in Britain – one without a church”.

By this definition there is no doubt that Kehro, the little village from the band takes its name, is a Hamlet. Hence the inspiration behind this project’s name. Kehro can be found in the municipality of Urjala on the border of Vesilahti, Kylmäkoski and Punkalaidun, about 170 kilometers northwest of Helsinki.

Employing more or less hidden ethno melodies and acoustic downtempo sounds, Kehro’s soundscape is based on experiences they’ve garnered from gigs at garden parties, dinner parties, cocktail parties and family celebrations.

The soft dreamscape of Kehro Hamlet exhibits a thorough understanding of various sub-genres, such as avant-folk, melodic space age pop, exotic coffeehouse jazz and chillout easy listening.
