A limited edition CD version of Tomutonttu cassette Hoshi (Vauva/Joteskii Groteskii 2021) and Seikkailun Tuoksu 7″EP (Artsy Records 2022) to be sold at Tomutonttu’s mini tour in Japan.

Hoshi is the 7th album by the worldly Kaakinmaa based sound producer Tomutonttu. This compositional endeavour began with foggy intuitions about freed people in swings, house plants in hanging baskets and people being brought up by wild monkeys.

Tomutonttu has been dealing with questions perhaps romantic by nature. Maybe my songs are farming music after all? What does my computer think about my music? Did electricity smell different in the 1980s compared to now? Other smells that could be related: the aroma of amok jog, the bottled scent of a pet shop. True players know the special perfume called studio sweat.

From a cycle to the next one, we are all ex-babies dreaming about autumnal mud puddles. Hoshi was made in a confused dialogue with machinery and code. It was born effortlessly and sometimes scary fast. Hoshi’s dark is that of a troll’s pocket filled with holes, or the inside of a flute. The album might be better suited for night time listening than any other Tomutonttu music.

Hoshi was recorded in 2021 and features sounds and voices from Kraus, Maria Stereo and Milo Linnovaara.

The creative outburst that gave us Hoshi spawned so much music that it all could not be fit into one entity. Four of these tracks comprise an independent baby sibling, the 7″ vinyl EP “Seikkailun Tuoksu” (Scent of Adventure). It is a colourful burst of sound, filled with electronic soap bubbles and glitchy but playful melodies.

“Jan Anderzen’s latest is another run through the kaleidoscope at high speeds. Intervals grow and contract with no thought for the spirits dancing on the top floors where the ground moves like an elongated jump rope. Colorful sonic bubbles search for outer space only to freeze and crack releasing a miniature electronic tidal wave into the upper atmosphere. Little pellets drop back to earth singing in glitched alien voices that welcome another pirouette before splattering into the neon sea.”

“First new single in a while from Finnish artist Jan Anderzén’s longrunning solo project. The mix is a typically tripped out tangle of electronic slices, taped together in such a way that they buck as much as they flow. If things got slowed down a lot, this would probably sound almost new agey in spots, but the fact that everything careens around like it’s being shot out the nozzle of a bubble gun makes it the perfect backdrop for whatever kind of surrealist cartoon you happen to be living at the moment. Now wiggle!”
